WHAT’S SAID IN VEGAS….
….by now, Hump the Grinder and all the Hair Stylists and every one else connect with the Hair Wars Reunion get away, should be checking in and getting settled in.

Settling in for 3 fun warm exciting days in Las Vegas, all in the name of HAIR.

Parting is such sweet sorrow, I’ll be over it by tomorrow the Hair Fighter had to stay @ home, but the next Hair Wars will be here @ home and I’ll be there.

IT’S JUST A MATTER OF TIME

Creativity is as wide as all out doors, as far as your eyes can see, Creativity, takes one’s Eye vision were eyes can not see.
Eyes that see further into the depth of Imagination, when one sit, and be still long enough to Image things that could be.
Originally, is yours and you own it, your name is on it, you are one of a kind, you created it and you cherish it with all your Heart.
This is how I feel about my 4wheels and a Keyboard, musical expression in Hair Entertainment that I Created last year.
I realize it takes time for a business to grow and time for Change to come about, it just a matter of time, but, 4Wheels is coming this year..

I was in a Salon the other day, no need to mention no names.
For, you see, their ALL the same to me, beauty of enhancement…the Salon.
The Salon was busy and everyone was working Styling hair giving the Salon flair.
The phone was ring, off the hook and walk ins were still coming in.
As, I looked around the Salon ALL I could say to myself is…”I like how they were Styling that Hair, they were cutting it right and coloring it bright”.
Wraps, Cut and Curl, Weaves and Poni tales…
I like what they were doing to that Hair,

I Still Have a Dream

I still have a Dream.

 Soon, real soon, this Dream will become a reality.

It’s an imaginary Dream, but ,yet so real to me, and real in the hearts, minds and souls in Hundreds of Hair Stylist’s living in Detroit.

It’s a Dream, that Detroit will be one day known for more, than a Motor City, or even a Motown Sound.

This Dream is deeply rooted in the Cosmetology Student Handbook.

A Dream where every French roll will be rolled high, and every hair and strand  neatly in place.

The kind of Dream where there will be no more long salon visits, and no waiting.

I still have a Dream where perms will burn no more.

I have a Dream where every Stylist’s will have the opportunity to be featured on the cover of Billy Cason, Hair Design Magazine.

This is our hope, and this is the faith with which we will return to the salon with.

With this faith we will be able to transform our creative energy’s to be able to accommodate our  customer’s in a professional like manner.

With this faith we will be able to work together, pray together, go to hair shows together, and stand up for styles to together, in knowing that one day our styles will shine.

This will be the day when all Hair Stylist, Barber, Braiders, Manicurist’s and Make up Artist in Detroit will come together to sing to the Crowning of the Hair Capital of the World.

Imagination creates Originality creating beauty in Hair styles, by the use skillful hands being blessed by God for the Glory of Hair.

Out of Detroit, and over 2 decades, comes an Army of talented Hair Stylist, Barbers, Braiders, Manicurists and Make up Artist all doing their part in this creative art.

The second half of the show, was no different then the first half of the show, but with more hair.

Along, with the style of enjoying an evening out, and  letting ones Hair down and it’s about to go down…Oh Boy!!… let’s have some fun.

By now, the ballroom was packed and heated with the excitement of Style  Fashion, Food, Drinks and Fun.

It seems as though everyone was having a good time.

 And why not, we”re @ a Hair Wars show and everything goes in Style/Entertainment @ a Hair Wars show.

Gegio, show Commentator has gotten into position off side of the stage, craze as he can be, and cutting as a Fox when it comes to entertainment.

This will be my third show with Gegio and he sure knows how to go…so let the show begin.

Gegio, did a Great job of entertaining the audience and had them eating out of his hand during…let’s see starting with his first calling..

London Calling was on top of their show game working together in salon corporation and team work and out front opening the second half.

London Calling, l demonstrating the unique way of the use Big Hair, Bright Hair and use of the array of colors…

London Calling was in it to win and @ Hair Wars everyone wins when you participate.

Cheron Jones – Altman, a Veteran  with style for good-looking Hair.

I have not seen Cheron in years, since back in the days of the Days In and Marriott hotel ballroom.

Ali Dushua, Hair Stylist,Salon owner was in grand glory with models featuring a seek preview of his up and coming stage play

 Scandalous Hair, written by Ali Dushua & Lena Claybon.

Ail models all look great as I took pictures with them and talked Hair and Hair shows.

Well, Well look who I see, the world renown Von Jour Reece Fashion Designer.

No one can do it like Von when he does that runway walk..

 Von’s model’s all dressed with the elegant look captivating a moment to  remember for this Hair Wars night and you might see anything walking with Hair on it.

When I think of Fantasy, theme and expresses of a style, I think of Keith, friend of mine.

It has been said, that it takes a whole village to raise a child…but in today’s modern style society world, it take’s, one man only to create a Fantasy style look, that one man is Keith.

Ms. Thang Gloria, Boy!!… it was good to see Gloria and it stared with a big hug.

Gloria and I go back a long way.

The last time we each other was at last year Hair Wars Color show last year.

Blond as she can be with a short cut with curl escalating across her left eye.

I enjoyed watching her old school skit creative and original about the contrast between old school vs.  new school charm.

Last but not lease closing the show, Big Roy, during things in a Big way.

I used to work with Big Roy @ Billie Jo’s Grand River Detroit, Mi, La Tonya Person, Salon owner, R. I. P.

I caught up with Roy back stage while he was putting the final touches on his model.

I’m Back!!!… and getting ready for the Hair Wars show, but first things first…

 

I’s been brought to my attention by close friends and relative’s, asking the questions….where is De Derrick??

or, for that matter where is the Hair Fighter??

Well, let me take this time to help every one out…I’m OK and God is good.

For the last 4 months, I’ve been happy and lucky in Love…her name is Bessie, my baby boo, heaven-sent from God above.

We met last year, while having my hair styled @ 2nd Look Hair Salon

 Detroit, MI.

Special shout out!!… to Amillia, Stylist/Salon Owner…for for hooking us up with the introduction.

Bessie and I have talked on the phone at all hours of the day and after hours through the night.

During, this time we discovered that we have shared about the same prayer request to God, for a person that’s nice and to talk with.

Bessie, had lost her mate of 30 years, and have cried a many of nights for help and God directed her path.

For the last 10 years I’ve been by myself been a little afraid of the hurt in relationships like most folks, then came Bessie that adds joy to my life.

Our first date was in church just as I prayed for, Family of Faith, 421 Piquette, Pastor, Harold Knox, where I’m a member, and so is Bessie, after meeting me, she joining last month with Christian experience.

Yesterday, Tuesday, I work up to the beginning of my end, that started with  the Bad Hair Days Blues…that ended with good news…

Sure, everyone as the blues with their hair at times, however, today is my day.

The Hair Capital Dream

 

 Bedtime, the day has grown old, and the time has come for no man to work.

I have done all that I can do for this day…”save some work for  tomorrow”…I always say.

I have just finished oiling and brushing my hair and tied it down.

Now, I laid me down to sleep, I dreams of a vocabulary of words to express the Best of the Best of Hair Stylist’s/Entertainment  that Detroit has to offer.

I dream In appreciation to Hump the Grinder’s Hair Wars and Billy Cason’s Hair design Magazine for the exposure to the world the Hair styles that Detroit is made of.

I dream of a beautiful musical scaled melody of notes swaying from side to side… The hair Capital of the World made in the D…The Hair Capital of the World la,la,la,la…the Capital the Capital…

Yes!!,  it’s true, and over the course of time Detroit has raised an army of talented hair stylist’s, serving our clients and each other in Love, Peace and Hair Grease…again, thanks to Hair Wars and Hair Design Magazine for providing the platform that took us their.

I Dream of a strong rhythm beat to express and support the melody of the song that will be written by the power’s and creative that is invested in a Hair Fighter, with writing and musical abilities to see the job through.

 

 

As, I awake from this dream, I quickly gathered my thoughts, grab a pen and paper, and continued on with turning a dream into the reality to live out  the expression… The Hair capital of the World is made in the D.

My, dear Lord and Heavenly Father I acknowledge you in Praise and Worship for who you are by the power or your Mighty acts.

Finally, Father God, I thank you for the Holy Spirit to that dwells in me, to listening to it softly calling to me.

Hair Wars Back Stage, pt. 2

Well, Act 2 has just begun.

I had made my back to the dressing room.

 After, walking with the stylist’s and their model’s to the side stage area.

This is the small area where everyone is lined up according to the next  performer appear on stage.

I really, wanted to see the feelings of emotions on the faces of the performers as they step, by, step traveling to side stage, or behind the stage to be up next.

 

In this way of show readiness,  the Stylist’s will be lined up for the next act to knock em’ dead helping in starting a show on time.

Thanksto one of the Hair Wars stage hands , that guided me back to the dressing room as we went back down the hall, round the corner through the kitchen and rode the elevator to the 2nd level…. next stop the dressing room.

The Dressing Room.

The last-minute stop on the way to twisting and turning  upon the stage.

Showing off their style and act to the world their 5 minute or 10 minute of fun and fame out there…on the runway

While, I was standing off to the side of the stage.

My mind was torn between staying and watching the last remaining acts that are in the show

This would give me a break from the dress room and time to socialize as the show goes into intermission.

First things, first, and my sole obligation here today is in the dressing room area taking good notes that will be helpful to me in writing a good blog story off my dressing room moments watching others prepare for the Hair Wars.

After, returning from stage side, the Dressing room was energized and once again the room was filled with new energy and new faces of creative artists getting ready for Act 2.

 Model call…Ok listen up when your name is called, Von Jour Reece and Donell Danny Davis 3-D line up at the rear of the room. 

 

   After, having a cold drink of water, and truly nothing taste as GREAT!! as a cold glass of agua… (water in Spanish).

 Slowly, I made my way over to Rita’s corner.

Rita, is head lined from the Magic Palace salon.

 I couldn’t help but to noticed her earlier.

Styling and dressing her models, which all had hair matching the outfits giving an over look in style and fashion.

I was dying to meet her, but kept my composure to be sure.

 I walked over and introduced myself to her as she went on busy on in dressing and styling her models. 

It seems more like Rita was getting her crew ready for a Broadway Musical Show production in hair.

The only different was…all of Rita’s model’s hair matched in accordance with their outfits made of 100 % hair.

Each of model’s hair had their own stage name…matching their outfits and hair style.

Blue Bubby,.. Pretty in Pink,.. Petty Flower,.. White Diamond,…Tangerine Orange,.. Petty Pink Poole,… Black Bird,,,, Afro Puff,… Cowboy…. and a Skunk.

Have you ever heard of anyone able to be in 2 places at one time?

If I could make a Wish tonight I Wish that I  could be in 2 places @ one time, is would be my Wish tonight.

 My dear readers, for the most part, and I’m sure you will agree that , the dressing room , is a hustle and bushel of a fast moving pace, with no time to waste….the clock is ticking…..

A kind of show getting ready for the show.

 Oh, well….I’ll just  have to wait, like everyone else until the video comes out.

So on with the show… in the dressing room.

There goes Von Jour Reese, Fashion Designer….and friend of mine from pasted Hair Wars shows.

 let me see if I can catch him and get a word with him?

Hey Von!,… how are you doing?.

Great!, as he spoke with the gleam in his  eyes one of the old days of Glory of entertainment in the days of the beginning tales of Hair Wars story .

I would love to see Von, Vogue his way down the runway, stepping with Class and Poise of a true entertainer… capturing the audience as he puts on the fashion and Vogue.

I see that you’re opening Act 2 of the show.

Von…how are you going to bring it on, got any surprises for the audience?

Von shared with me that he will have 9 models ,and  will be show casing his 2015 Spring Collection, with little of this and a little that the you’ll just have to see on the video and see how it all comes together…knock them dead Von!

 Walking, across the room, I got the eye contact with of Mr. Alonzo Palmer, so I continued to walk his way.

Hey, Alonzo, you look great man.

 I haven’t seen you… in about 10 years or so, but, I have kept up with your work through the Hair Styling Magazine’s.

How’s life treating you Alonzo?

Great!! De, working hard, little older and wiser, but I’m glad to be here just the same.

Alonzo’s  work and spirit as a profession platform artist is simply breath-taking with all his performances.

 Alonzo is a class elegant performance in style with the delivery from his beautiful Models striking a pose excellent in workmanship.

Alonzo, dates back in the beginning day of Hair Wars.

I remember, been on the line up back stage on one of the pasted Hair Wars shows.

My area was  along side of Alonzo.

We were getting ready for show time but, I couldn’t help but to look over @ his work as a showman and Gentleman preparing his models for show time.

 I remember Alonzo’s long thick Dre’s, back in the day.

Today, Alonzo has his hair  cut short, but  still have the thickness of hair.

Good luck!… in your performance tonight, as we shook hands and parted.

Donnell Danny Davis 3D, OMG…. made an O G like myself feel good in remembering my name.

I also, remember this young blood, I watching him coming up in the ranks of Hair Wars.

Thank you Donnell Danny, for recognizing me and for my work and effort as the Hair Fighter in my days of glory as the Hair Fighter entertaining on the stages of Hair Wars.

Today, I salute you Danny, for your skit plan idea of Edward Scissors Hand reenactment.

Again, like everyone else waiting  on  the video to be released  to see how the tale of Edward Scissorhands unfold.

 I’m already impressed I what I see with the crew from Donnel Danny and looking forward to seeing the video.

What do I see over in the corner…  is it the Color Purple, no It’s Pink, petty as she can be with a full body of curls that’s looking real Pretty Pink.

I love her innovated style of creations…as I watched her work and complemented on her long fashionable stilettos earrings she was wearing.

One day, while looking through Hair Design Magazine, there she was Pink…no but the Red and Blue with a touch of Gold…Super Pink Women.

Pink’s ad campaign position her poising as Super Woman.

Well, that super campaign caught the attention and the watchful eye of the Hair Fighter with the same color pact…all for one and one for all in the name of style.

Pink, seems a little bit under pressure, as she worked finishing up one of her models.

I, couldn’t help but to over heard her speaking to one of the stage hands, that she was waiting on one of her models that had not yet arrive, and that’s enough to put any Stylist  a little on edge.

Tiff the Barber, was cutting and lining up her last remained models… taking time to give me a hug.

 I had to asked about her mother Phyllis Patillo, other Queen of Style back in the days of , growing in the ranks of Hair Wars.

Last, but not least on tonight’s line, before I go down stairs to enjoy the last remaining acts of the show.

Her name is Niece Hayes

Niece of Toledo, Ohio.

 The last time, I could remember  standing this close to her was the last show @ the Grand Quarters before demolition of the building decades ago.

Girl,… it’s good to see you, still looking great! Niece Hayes.

Hey De, how are you’re doing?

Great!…I’m writing stores now, and still cutting and styling hair.

Wonderful, girl you know if I never had told you, I’ve always admired your work on  stage and in the beauty books.

Thank you De,  been a long time, thank God were still here for another Hair Wars show.

 

 Today Niece is proud as a camper could be @ a camp site with her family.

Niece, is here tonight with 2 generations of family support, her daughter’s now grow.

  Her young girls, back in the day  would perform with their mother keeping  things all  in the family in a styling way.

Today, 6 grand’s  now added to the act.

If only you could see  the look of a proud  mother’s face watching, as her daughter go over the dance route with the grand children, this site would bring a joyful tear to anyone’s eyes.

Well, well, well it seems as everyone by this time and were coming to the end of the act 2 Stylists my job here as media coverage is concern. 

My mission in the dressing room as been accomplished in the dressing room.

Now it’s time to go down stairs to catch the last few acts remaining in the show.

As, I enter the ballroom I ran into Keith Matthews/Salon Owner, Beauty Village Salon…standing @ the entrance of the ballroom.

 Always, suited up for entertainment leading the way as head of the Beauty village Salon.

Great!!

I’ve just come from the dressing room writing notes for an up coming Blog story on the back stage going on.

The Ball Room was packed, as I grooved my way in.

Dancing, letting the music captivating my mind clearly showed that I was having a great time.

I was not to hard to miss,  as if a light switch was turned on as I entered the room.

The eyes were on me, and I was looking at crowd and up at the stage runway .

I noticed a lovely pair of eyes that was quite interesting.

She had that look  as if she really knew me.

I move over to get closer, it turns out she knew of me from my Hair Fighter image days.

She was with her co-worker’s from Morcell’s salon.

Now, I found this seating arrangement quite extraordinary, this makes this a good human interest story, co-worker setting all together enjoying the Hair Wars.

It was remarkable, in today’s world and time where most folks distance themselves from others.

Here you have a picture of togetherness 6 in a row a fine example of Love, Peace and Hair Grease 6 little Stylist’s in a row.

Here’s the part that I’ve waiting to get into the VIP seating area.

 I walked right in…do you think my Media pass had something to do with it?

In the pasted, I couldn’t afford such luxuries and comforted  of VIP seating

Money is not problem…it’s how you handle what you have….De Derrick

I guess, because of my show budget and always travel with and entourage and my believe is one for all  for one so I sat with general admission and my models and saved my money.

Wow, I’m here VIP…oh what a different a day makes when you’re sitting up front.

The first two styles as I walked proudly into VIP, that broke my concentration from looking at the act on the runway, but just one look was all it took when I see men wearing styles.

It was something so smooth and sensational about these two heads…being polite and making my introduction.

I asked them who did their hair

But, all the time in the back of my mind it look like the work of Michael Horner, the Wave Master, and sure enough both sounded Michael Horner.

Michael was not at the show in body, but was well represented by these two hair styles.

 I exchanged contact information with the two and Michael Horner, the Wave Master gets the credit for style.

It’s always good to see men holding on the style…hummm it seems like I’m not the only one holding onto style…give them both a hand…and one for myself.

I am happy I was able to catch the remaining few acts that are left in final showing of Hair Wars.

One in particular…was Necy Hayes.

Her grandson early back stage this  grandson was so bored, and just wanted to go home

I tried to cheer him up a bit but he was into his own attitude, and wasn’t hearing it…the boy wanted to go home.

But only if you could  see this boy now, getting down.

look at him now getting down dancing, smiling and having the time of his life as he walks his walk down the runway.

The show is over…and I’m sure we all had a ball walking out I was mesmerized by a stunning Mo Hawk…turns out that Mo Hawk was Ms. Thang.

 I remembering network with here.

It must have been a good 10 years since I’ve seen her last.

But, here’s to you Ms. Thang and the Mo Hawk that stop me in my tracks and ended the show.

Ms Thang Gloria was on last year Hair Wars line up.

….Well, well, well…just as every great show must come to an end, and so goes with Hair Wars.

We all had a good time and I truly hope you enjoy the reading.

 The lovely, O’Kela Neveaux, spoked  the last words of another successful Hair Wars.

While, walking out going with the flow I notice my man, Todd from the old, old, days of Hair Wars…still looks the the looks same.

We talked about the pasts shows and I asked him where is the next stop on the Hair Wars tour?

He told me I would have to ask Hump for that kind of information…..sure I’ll will call him myself, and ask about the next Hair Wars scheduled stop.

 I managed, to get a picture of the BIG guy.

Of course, no-show would be complete, if I didn’t get this networking photo of Hump, posing for pictures and signing autographs, as the crowd continues to filter out of the hotel. 

Walking down the hall way, I see Kristina, The Glam Tech standing off to side.

Kristina, was promoting her seminar class.

Kristina, will be sharing her award-winning skills with her Vintage Styling & Waving Class Monday, after the Hair Wars show.

She, gave me a beautiful program booklet announcing her Mother’s Day My Hair, My Story, My Glory Hair show.

We exchanged the biggest hugs that two men could every give, after not seeing each other for years.

Along with his lovely wife, Malika, Hair Stylist.

  Coordinated in white, and Malika is holding on tight to the Scissorhands man.

Working together side by side for Life…words out of the mouth  of Mr. Scissorhands, Kalife’L

 I first met Khalife’L, in his creative state, where I first saw him on the Hair Wars stage performing as Edward Scissorhands.

The cat was bad, all dressed in black, and hair fixed in a scary curl and make up around the eyes.

If I didn’t know better I thought it was the Boogie Man

And when I looked at his hands he had 10 Scissor on each finger preparing to do a hair cut…that was skit originality and wonder showman ship.

We exchanged business cards and we  departed going  our separate ways. 

Well there you have it and that’s about how it goes @ a Hair Wars.

When making this statement “love to write” was in reference to my handwriting skills.

I’ve always been told that “you have beautiful handwriting” or “you write like a girl”.

Well, I take after my mother, Norma Smith, for she has the most beautiful handwriting by far in the world if you ask me.

  As a child growing up, I would write just to see how fancy my handwriting could be or to see if I could copy my mother’s hand writing.

I just Love to write, so I wrote and wrote and kept journals recording my daily Life activities.

 

 

I figured  out one day…  to my surprise, it wasn’t that  I would call myself an author or writer… I just enjoyed writing.

  I consider myself Creative in Nature with Expression, Desire and Passion for the art of writing that bring out the Best in me.

I believe God in all His Glory, with His wonderful sence of humor  increased my territory with my writing abilities every time that I stated that “I Love to write” He just answered my wishes.

I now, write a word from God into almost every Blog that I write for His Glory to deliever a message Inspiration, Love and Hope to a Hurting world. 

  I possess  a typing speed of about 85 wpm, and about 3 errors…how Cool is that?

 

I’m Bless beyond measures, been able to do my own typing, giving me the advantage of saving time and money by not having to hirer  someone to do the typing for me.

 God knew before hand, that in that year of 1971,  I would enlist into the services of the USAF, and wouldn’t you know, it that I would  be trained as an Administrative Clerk Typing Specialist and to this day I’m using my Gift in a special way…giving him the Glory.

Once the military trains a Man or Woman, you you’re trained for Life…some things you just don’t forget and military training is one of them.

I will never forget the things God has done for me in my Life, so I will continue to write for the Whole world to see… the Goodness of God’s and how he Blessing me.

Combining my with my Creative Nature and my Typing abilities to become one day know as The Blog Breeder, De Derrick writing his legacy.

If Runways could talk

 

  

 The whole world is a stage,1967 recording artists, Fantastic Four, sings… and everyone is playing a apart…  the stage is set, the curtain goes up, and  Image this…

 Yes, Image this…

If a Runway could talk, what would it say?

Would it talk of the support it gives, in carrying of the weight that aids the performer’s to reaches out into the audience,  where the steppin is High and the walk is  confidences in Style, Dancing and Fashion that can be viewed up close.

I would image the first words a Runway would say is …WHY is everyone always walking on me?

I said, to the Runway for this is your main and only purpose is to support the show and remember….the show must go on,  you were built, to carry the weight of the people doing their thing out on your Runway floor…so don’t start complaining now.

Ok let me see?… for this  kind of talk for a runway to talk is all new to me in this imaginary world of make-believe…so I’ll play along to see.

Thinking over the question again very carefully…if a runway could talk, hummm….What would I say??

  I think, I would start by letting the world know about Hump the Grinder’s Hair Wars, Hair Wars stage entertainment in hair is upgrading my runway static  and making sure my floors beans are secure, steady that will with stand the rockin when the beat starts to move, no time for slip ups or stage malfunctions….said the Runway in a strong woody voice.

The stage crew have taken the time to tighten up my support frame, that carry  the weight of the dancer.. while working out their rehearsed dance steps and routines steppin and bouncing to the beat.

.

 Finally, adding a new straps of lighting to my side will aid in helping to lighten things up and to raise the bar capturing all the runway action and most important the final runway spend action  and with the group photo shot looking like a Hair Design picture moment at the end of the runway.

Show Time starts @ 6:05 pm..Going out to check out the Hair Wars Show..don’t be late…

I got my best suit on and I’m looking fly, shoes shined and felling fine, steppin’ out to check out the Hair Designs performing on the Runway Stage @ Hair Wars .

One last check at the mirror… on my way out, I’m straight now with no time for delay…as I called out to my baby,  “Baby, are you ready?”

My baby hollered back…don’t rush me now, you see, I’m a lady…she said, and well worth the wait, as she came steppin in with those stilettos on, tippin as through she was tipping a rose garden, looking lovely as could be and smelling like a lady, that’s my baby, and we’re on our way to the Hair Wars Show.

Leaving the house, arm in arm… we’re so excited about the colorful, short, long and ridiculous Designs that will be on the stage @ the Hair Wars Show tonight….and we’re on our way!

 

As we approached the ride, I open the door, she slid in to her seat ever so sexy, crossing her beautiful legs and she gave me a wink,… I smiled and thought to myself, “I’m a lucky man going out with this lady, my baby.”   

                                                        

 I walked around to the other side, started the ride, threw it into gear and burned rubber on our way to Hair Wars.

Putting the petal to the metal, not worrying about any fines and no time for texting, for the clock is ticking and we don’t want to be late for the 6:05 show starting time.

We arrived at the Adoba Hotel-Dearborn, and the parking lot was packed, I circle the lot for the second time, someone was pulling out as I pulled in, thanking God because the spot was close by the door and with time to spare, putting the ride in park, I had a moment to watch my baby put on her final coat gloss…let’s go baby and check out the show….”Okay I’m with you, baby.”

We checked in at the door and were escorted to our seats…as  I looked at my phone and the time was 6:00 pm on the dot….with 5 minutes to spare in preparation for the:

A Healthy Change

  I’m De Derrick, Child of God, Hair Stylist/Barber/Blogger and formerly associated with Mel’s Salon & Associate’s for 3 years and have enjoyed my time of service at the Salon.

  On February 01, 2015, I made a drastic decision in the changing of my work place, in search of a Health Image for myself.

Change is good with all progress of Life, that adds to the positive betterment of oneself.

Image is everything, especially when you take the time to develop your self and understand that the image is a result from the positive change making that  first impression…it’s sort of the way the world see you for the first time.

  Two months ago, I cut my hair in looking for a change in my life.

  I was caught up in the “Rut of Routine” and I needed to break free to try something new.

Today, as my hair grows back slowly, I’m feeling a sense of belief in the Rededication of my Professionalism in my Hair Styling Business.

Sometimes, in life a person may have to or even be forced into making a change for what ever reason.

The Routine Rut of Life

 

I, truly believe that everyone in their own time or another, has been caught up with the pressures and the “rat race” called life.

 Life can sometime have you  felling like they’re going in circles, or if running on a tread mill, doing the same day after day and finding it hard to break free to do something different in the hopes to excel and breath.

  Hello, I’m De Derrick, 62 years of age, single, and looking for an intelligent companionship in the Latino Community to share time with… I’m in fair health, and no transportation which is the biggest reason I’m  caught up in the Routine Rut of Life…day after day…doing the same thing.

I’m a Hair Stylist/Barber, Mel Salon & Associates, 6080 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI.,

and I reside at Piquette Square, 6221 Brush, Veteran Permanent Housing for the Homeless Vet.,

and across the street in the spirit of Worship, Praise and fellowship the Family of Faith Baptist Church, 912 Piquette St., Detroit. Mi.

So,… there you have it, my triangle Routine Rut of my life…Home,  a five-minute walk to Mel’s and then on Sunday, Praising my God across the street with the family of Faith Baptist Church.

Please don’t get me wrong and I’m not crying or complaining I’m just sharing, for I’m truly blessed be on measures, but I’m going somewhere with this Blog story… to a place or time that you may have been before.

The last time I broke all rules and went out  letting my Hair down, was to a Hump the Grinders Hair Wars Show, May 4. 2014 at the beautiful Adoba Hotel-Dearborn, formerly the Hyatt Regency, across from Fairlane Mall…and I enjoyed my night out, but Tuesday morning, I was back at the same Routine Rut.

Again, I’m truly Happy and Content with myself…but I had to paint a picture while setting the stage to tell of the Musical Show, I was invited to on the eve of MLK Day Celebration.

The In My House Techno Musical Show, Hosted By T. Carlita…”Where the true stories are told – and Great music is Played”.

I remember T. Carlita, back in the days of my performing days with Hair Wars, she was working back stage at the model check in, keeping the show flowing.

 Today, T. Carlita’s, In My House Internet Show provides another platform for producers and deejays of house and techno music to share with the world what they have in common with music…get connected: Inmyhouse65.com.

I was reacquainted with T. Carlita @ the radio station WHPR 88.fm while been a guest on the Hump the Grinder’s Around the World Internet Show that air every Wednesday @ 7:00 pm and the In My House follows @ 8:00 pm.

Carlita, working the camera and sound control for Hump’s Hair Wars program and then they switch at 8:00 pm.. and Hump is working the set for T. Carlita program…team work and corporation @ it’s best.

In My House Techno Music Show 1^st Anniversary Celebration broke my Routine Rut and I’m so happy I even through, I had thoughts to be a no-show and stay at home in my Routine Rut, but once I arrived by Checker Cab to The New Menjos Complex 928 W. Mc Nicholas Rd, Detroit, Mi., West of Woodward Ave. it was on and I danced my little dance.

T. Carlita, De Derrick had a wonderful time, it’s as if I was playing in my own back yard been that I always had a feel for dancing…the food was great and just been out of my Square that I call home-made the different in braking my daily Routine Rut.

The Show Must Go On

 

 Show Time…Show Time…don’t be late, The Show Will go on as Plan

The phrase “The Show Must Go On” is universal in its meaning, from entertainment world, to  life struggles, even in positive evaluation of ones life to keep things moving to never give up.

Hump the Grinder, Entrepreneur/ D J/Promoter and founder of his jaw dropping entertainment stage show called Hair Wars, is one person that I’m sure understands the meaning of “the Show Must go on”.

The birth of Hair Wars began in Detroit Night Clubs 1985 and now has been shown around the world via Hair Wars Around the World Internet Show live every Hump Day Wednesday.

I’m De Derrick/HairStylist/Barber/Blogger and a Hair Fighter, as well, a stage name that has followed me since my first stage performance on the Hair Wars stage at the Grand Quarter’s, 1996 and over the years I’ve averaged 3- 4 shows a year with Hair Wars.

I truly love the concept of this Hair Stage Entertainment, and I have gained a lot of experience on the “Run way” and back stage present, thanks to Hair Wars giving me and other Hair Stylist alike the opportunity to show off our Styles and to Network with other stylists and performance.

A large show production such a Hair Wars takes quite a bit of planning, organization and promoting to run a successful show.

Obstacles arises, and anything can happen and will happen, and things will go wrong during the day of the show, but the “show must go on”.

Hump, has gained a reputation for Hair Wars 6:05 show starting time and enforces it with no exception the to the rule and enforces it with late fine if the stylist is late during model call.

I feel this is a good concept and policy and only a true Show man would understand, by during their part in helping flow of the show running smoothly by been on time.

During my time in performing with Hair Wars, I was late one time, with my models and paid the cost, but as a true entertainer it thought me to handle my business and step up my game and be on time because “the show must go on’.

Last week, Hump called me again to appearance on his Around the World Internet Show, see  Hump Day Blog 7, but this time it was a little different.

Hump’s partner and camera person/Engineer Tina Carlita producer of My House, D J Digital house music that follow the Hair Wars Around the World Internet Show @ 8:00 pm, Tina was down with the flu and was not in the house, but at home with a fever.

                                

Hump called and asked me I would fill in and help with the controls, and fill in as a guest, discussing the importance and usage of Blogging in the industry which has become the internet newest form of word of mouth and  advertise .

Blogging is a way of branding your product, hair salon, hair style or business in the sight of others by Google word search…example blog hump day

Blogging is a matter of keeping log on daily activity; also used by ship captains on sea voyages…just as Captain Kirk’s logged his voyages on the US Enterprise…

During my last guest appearance on the show all controls were close at where Hump could control the volume and video tapes, but this time, the radio station, WHPR 88.1 fm was under reconstruction and the controls were in the hall way with glass wall that separated us…and Hump could not be in two places at once.

   

This is where I come in to help out with, after discussing the effects Blogging with Hump I went out into the hall way to the control board and started the tapes rolling.

It was a simple task but so very important to roll tapes and control the volume no Hump’s command with a simple nod jester and with the script well written out by Hump I was with him every step of the way by reading the script and pushing the correct tapes.

I really enjoyed my 1- hour thrill of  an engineer and I appreciated the way that Hump had his pre-written script laid out the me to follow…keep in mind that it’s all entertainment and The Show Must Go On.

I’m looking forward to The In My House Techno Show to Network and to wish Tina well come join the party because this show will go on…

The phone rang and it was Hair Wars founder Hump the Grinder inviting me for a return guest on his Hair Wars Around the World Internet Show, to share the effects of Blogging.

I’m De Derrick, Hair Stylist/Barber/Blogger @ Mel’s Salon & Associate’s 6080 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Michigan.

I arrived early to the station, and everything was going according to God’s Plan and Purpose for this day.  

I was  excited to be Streaming Live around the world my personal Style message.

I greeted, Hump and was so happy to see T Carlita In My House Digital DJ House Rock music.

T Carlita show follows Hair Wars Around the World Internet Show @ 8:00 with house rock music and digital sound and beats and guest D J’s.

Hump and Carlita, working together as Carlita focus in with the camera and setting the light’s while Hump was sound checking the microphones … everything is set, time now 6:38 pm…on schedule.

I had realize that I was without a pen or pencil and that’s not a good thing for a writer to be without his tools…shame on me, but things happen.

I remember coming into the station at the front desk lobby were I had noticed some pens, pencils and peppermints on the desk, hoping no one would mind if I helped my self.

As, I approached the desk there was a gentleman sitting there, I spoke and asked him could I have a pen he reply yes…by the time I asked him for a peppermint, as well…it hit me as to who I was talking to!

It all came together now, and I was excited to be in the present of the Dance Show King and the owner of this beautiful radio station, the pens & pencils and the peppermints.

As a young boy I would rush home from school to watch TV dance show Rockin Seymour Dance Show during the 60’s …time went on and I got older but still had fire to dance on anyone’s show.

The Dance Show for me came along at the right time for change and gave Detroit a different beat to dance by.

I had always been obsess with wanting to dance on the Dance Show and  I accomplished my desire, and danced on the show some decades ago.

Now, everyone knows I had to take a “selfi” because I knew I was going to write this Blog.

What’s in a Name

 

 

What’s in a name?

Only that the name of Jesus is where every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess.

This summer I’ve enjoyed wearing my Natural hair pulled to the front and flat on the top.

I like to think of a Style, such as the one you see as my New jack City look, and boy!, all the comments,  and onions, but no one help me in placing a name on this Style.

Some opinions I shall not repeat but I will repeat  what’s in a name?

What’s in a name?

Well. come see… what I finally  figured out on what to call a style such as this, and what  inspired me into calling it that.

Just like a good neighbor, I like for you to meet Retired Staff Sergeant Anthony Bradley, friend, brother and next door neighbor, Piquette Square, Veteran’s Permanent Housing for the Homeless Veteran’s 6221 Brush St. Detroit, Mi.

Hi, I’m De Derrick Hair Stylist/Barber/Blogger, Mel’s Salon & Associates, 6080 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI.

Every morning before sun rise Ant and I mediate on God’s word in Praise while we talk real talk over bacon and eggs as we are Grateful for Grace and Mercy and another Day.

Anthony, is a charter and so am I, we both share the in the common interest of the Love of Jesus encouraging one other through brotherly Love.         .

One morning, after breakfast I was ironing a shirt getting ready for work.

Anthony was at the table talking and expressing the love and ones of God.

  He spoke of how God’s  Divine Plan is revealed through his children that listen to His calling. 

He places us in Life situations for His Divine Purpose and through the blood of Jesus covers our sins from the Rooter to the Tooter…making the jester with his hand at the top of his head pulling forward down…with the last words “from my head to my feet” cover by the blood of Jesus. 

That’s when it Hit me in calling my Style The Rooter to the Tooter.

Personal it’s a knowing through faith  that I’m saved and cover by the blood Jesus and I thank God for the Style of Glory with my hair Style.

I’m truly bless to have hair at 62.

Pulling my hair forward in such a Style keeps me reminded of the direction of Life that ahead on me in my writing

The Forgotten Bike

 

 

The Forgotten Bike, is a story title that’s speaks for it’s self…have you ever forgot sometime?

Of course we have, …come and see the true and wonderful working Power of God while riding the bus.

 Today, will be the anniversary of the return of The Forgotten Bike that was left on the Bike rack of the Detroit Department of Transportation

Last week Friday 09.05.14. between 12:oo pm – 2:30 pm

 I’m De Derrick Hair Stylist/Barber/Blogger at Mel’s Salon 6080 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mi. 48202.

The time is 11:20 am, I get a call from Bruce, wanting to come in at 2:00 pm for a hair cut…sure Bruce I’ll be expecting you.

I’ve been servicing Bruce for 10 years and he’s always been promote and on time for his scheduled hair cut… and today was no exception.

I could see him approaching the salon as he got off the bus.

I was setting at the reception area just as Bruce entered the salon…we walked up stairs, together to my station and Bruce set in the styling chair and I draped him.

Well, 5 minutes into the hair cut I was telling Bruce about my new bike…just than Bruce jumped up as if he had sat on a bushel of cactus’s.

…my Bike!!, my Bike!! Bruce shouted!

I forgot my Bike on the bus rack.

I removed the styling cape from around is neck and off went Bruce running down Woodward towards the Blvd. in hope’s to meet the bus that he got off of on the return trip.

Bruce later on informed me that while running in the street and dodging traffic on a busy street such as Woodward… the police stopped him…they detained him long enough to slow down the hunt  the Forgotten Bike.

The officers were during their duty, I could only image Bruce was a sight to be seen… soak sweated from the run and looking kind of out-of-place with his unfinished hair cut.

I don’t blame you Bruce, I own a Bike, and at the time it’s my only means of transportation and I would have reacted the same way in recovering my Bike Lord only know what I would go through.

Now, here is the good part where God steps in and do His part working it out in Bruce favor.

Bruce say, that after the officers let him go to continue his how pursue on finding his bike .

The next person Bruce meets on his quest for his The Forgotten Bike  was a well dress man and Bruce stated that it was something about this was right, so he stated to explain his dilemma of his Forgotten Bike…well this well dress man turned out to be connected  with , The Detroit Department of Transportation, DOT.

Bruce explain his story and situation, by now the DOT official ask Bruce how do he know if found that the Bike would you be able to prove it’s yours ..Bruce informed him that the key that Bruce had will fit the lock on the Bike.

The DOT Official contacted the route supervisor on the Woodward run and they tracked down the Bike and told Bruce that they would drop it off at Mel’s Salon while Bruce finishes getting his hair cut.

Bruce returned to the salon sweaty, tired but full of Hope and told me that the DOT Official will call when there in front of the salon.

Bruce was very adamant on the return of his Bike.

I draped Bruce, and once again began his service…10 minute into the hair cut and the phone rings…it was DOT calling informing Bruce that he could come out and get his Bike…I looked out of the window and there it was DOT Official white truck, the bus and The Forgotten Bike on the Bike rack.

Job well done!… Detroit Department of Transportation in the speedy recovery of The Forgotten Bike.

Blogger’s last word: I started not to write this Blog but I did just the same.

 I figured, that since my client Bruce was involved with The Department of Transportation speedy recovery of The Forgotten Bike it was time to say something good about The DOT…good work!! 

The Forgotten Bike should be a lesson to us all…when riding The DOT don’t forget your Bike before leaving the bus.

I was looking forward in meeting Ms. Lockett arrival and I got may chance because she beat me to the Salon and was setting up for the 11:00 opening.

Last week, Ms. Sharon owner Offin River’s Accessories Etcetera informed me of the Trunk Show exhibit  and asked me to let my client’s know.

I sighed the moment, in with the chance of advertising and I started to Blog the arrival of Adrienne Lockett Designs to help promote the event.

The Trunk Show was a screaming success, as the doors of the Boutique open and closed with shoppers looking for a Trunk Show Deal.

As, I pasted by the reception area from time to time I would notice the Ladies so busy shopping.

I had a busy week-end of business myself, with my clients working up stair’s at Mel’s Salon & Associate’s, but I managed to talk to Ms. Lockett, she said that she as love and passion the Beauty Industry and has for the last 20 years been on the road with her Trunk Show.

I asked her, where’s your next stop?… she said home for 2 weeks and then to D.C.

Before there ever was a Detroit there was Hair..

Well, well, well…finally the week-end is upon us…1 more day before  Show time of The Greatness Show on Earth…The Moe Hair Show Review.

The most popular show around and it’s going down in The Hair Capital of The World…Detroit, known for styles, Cuts, Color and Curls Nail Art and Braids.

The Hair Stylist/Barbers, Manicurist,  Makeup  Artist, Braiders, along with their Stage Presentation, and the Education during and after the show styling tecqueces while the Videos rows on  shared into The Social Square that will be viewed in every port from Singapore to see ya ma ma in France where they dance.. The can can dance.

This is The Moe Hair Show annual visit to The Motor City and I not taking any chances on missing this Show Production in Hair & Fashion.

I feel just like a kid at Christmas Eve…you know that feeling of that I can’t sleep…wishing for the sun to open the blinds into another day…or for the grownups, sleeping steel, or straight up in a chair all night… affair of dozing off, in fear of messing up the Style and you wouldn’t want to do that would you?

This is a before look before I decide on the style for The Show…

The time is 8:30 am

I’m sitting here after finisning a cut n curl, my next appointment is @ 11:00, Great this gives me time to go over my Check List before show time…checking it twice making sure that everything runs smooth.

You see…I ‘m not in the show, although I’ve travel on their tour and done all that before.

I even made a name for myself as a” Hair Fighter”,  my days  of old has not taken me from the stage lights yes, I miss it of course!  but…now I write, on the Internet Blogging each show that I can get to…but personally it’s hard to stay away from all the Hair War happening on the stage action, bright lights and a crowd, but I now have…I think, the best seat in the house.

I write the show review blog and of course everyone knows that the pen is mightier than any sword in any act…see my last Hair Show Story or the story of a man that always wanted to go to a Hair Show.

And for the reader of this Blog let it be known Invite me to a Show I’ll go home type it, publish it and now, Good or Bad the show revenue is now gone viral…meet The Worlds new form of advertising…The Blog.

Sitting @ my station, take the time to rest my mind…

Showtime is slowing creeping up but I want to allow it to get me in a rut… I’m a professional and I like to do things right when it comes to show Biz…now let me see…now where is that Check List?…everyone as a check list…now where’s mine? … talking to myself as I checked the last pocket inside my suite coat…here it is…Let’s see, oh I forgot to give my check list a name…I’ve in the habit of naming all of my check list dating back to 1993….I think I’ll call this list Show Call.

Now where was I…oh yeah, shoes shines, shirt press, socks, tie set, Tuxedo…omg!!

My Tuxedo paints are @ the tailor, My man, Tailor Man, The Man with a Stitch is hemming my pants…Oh no!

How could have I had forgotten my pants…now let me see where did I put Ken’s number?

The phone rang…It’s Michelle… hey De , I was think about the show wanted to come by to talk about a style for the hair show…I told her sure , come on in

…don’t let the eyes fool ya…she will be ready on The After Blog and she will awake with a Smile of a Style…Smiling on The After Look.

I found The Tailor Man number and called him; he said he’ll be there until 6:00 am…ok Ken…and hung up.

Hi De, with the close eye look of The Before Look…never mind what you see now except for those Lovely Eyes that will catch up with on The After Look Blog.

Michelle is so excited about being my model, she told me about her past modeling experience with greats like Karl Reed, John Gooden and Nathanael I can see her blood racing as she was thinking about the upcoming show, or maybe the past shows that she model for , either way the Girl was Happy.

After going through some Hair Design Books and Prestige’s Magazine she stop and found a please short style, long gated on one side and layer throughout the top…sides molded down because we won’t need a curl only the smooth look of a Flat Iron.

Michelle was satisfied with her soon to be look, we will call it the After look.

I ask Michelle if she would drop me off at Woodward and the Blvd…so I can get my pants from the Tailor Man.

I’ll do better than that, I got to run in the Dollar Store that’s across the street, and we’ll meet up and I’ll bring you back to the Salon… OK…sounds like a plan to me…let’s go…I told the receptionist that I’ll be back as we left out the door.

Ok…Michelle, as we part…I’ll be over at Tailor Shop…Hi Ken, walking in, hey De…The Show is Sunday are you ready…as ready as I will ever be as soon as you give me those paints so I can cross them off of my Check List…I finish my transaction with Ken The Tailor Man and sealed it with a handshake, thanks and come again.

When I came out of the shop Michelle is setting with the motor running calling let’s go. The ride to the shop was short but had time to finish my check List.

Wow!.. Easter week @ The Salon… in preparation for Restoration Sunday.

I’m working hard, but it’s a labor of love, in getting everyone ready for Easter Sunday, looking their best for the Best.

 We thank God, for His Son Jesus and his Comforter Guiding us in All Truth.

I’m Derrick Hair Stylist/Barber, Mel’s Salon 6080 Woodard Ave., Detroit, Mi.  Everyone as  left the Salon, I’m  home  alone.

 I set at my station for a minute to relaxing my mine, “what a week”  think I better use this time to get myself ready for Easter Sunday. , truly there’s nothing like a good shampoo in order to start the style. 

Starting, with a nice shampoo and conditioner, helping to keep my hair very manageable for just about any style I choose to wear, truly there’s nothing like a good shampoo in order to start the style off in a right clean way.

While. rising my hair, I thought about the  Hair Wars USA Tour coming to town May 4, 2014…I’m going to need think about a style for this Red Carpet Hair Event.

I proceed to my station, while drying my hair with the towel, looking into the mirror, I thought to myself “there is nothing like a style” you understand that certain feeling of serenity, joy and self-confident you have in wearing the style that complements your appearance.

I wrapped my hair and went into the drier room, setting  the dryer on high I pulled the dryer hood down and fell asleep like we all do.

I was really tired, from the work load of the week and my spirit was very restless I felted the pull of a Tornado whisking  me up on a ride across the sky, feeling the breeze blowing through my hair, faster and faster I traveled, suddenly I felted as though  I was burning up, as I  look below It appears, that I was souring  over the Forest Flames tops of the State of California…burning like a ball of fire!

I was just  at my breaking point and then  within a twinkle of an eye, I was drench with the flood water’s and sad tears of heart breaks from The hurricane of Katina.

The Hurt, pain and the destruction of so many lost lives, this painful image was too much for me to bear..  Spirit I’m finish with this ride I want to go home, the sky turn black to grey and lighting bolts of lightning lighten the sky alone the way.

 Riding the lighting bolts across the sky I then soared upward as the Eagle’s soars climbing, climbing up into the sky only  to descend down ward to earth at Great speed and a mighty splash plugging into the Red Sea .

 

 

20,000 league under the sea, I cracked open the bottom of the sea floor has I hit the bottom of the sea floor, that started an earthquake that started  an up ward whirlwind spiral effect round, round, and around  raising me to the top of a 500 feet  Tsunami I rode.

The Tsunami, washed me out upon a giant structure,  I felted just as Jonah might have felt, been spit out of that Whale’s mouth…wet!

I pulled myself to my feet thanking  God I was alive.

I stood to my feet when I notice 2 Big letter’s the size of a billboard that read GM and with a small sign under the initials which read God’s Mercy.

Oh God! I know that my God is everywhere … but this is ridiculous…

 

Slowly, I walked over to the edge of this structure, not before looking up, and was to my surprise to see a  Square Sun in the sky,  this was no ordinary Sun but this is no ordinary place. 

The Sun  ray’s was instantly drying off my clothes  as if by Magic, could this place be real? or what?

Oh… I know, maybe I’m caught up in that new solar system that was that was discovered in space that was parallel  to Earth,  this must be the news story I heard before I fell asleep.

But, I’m here, and things seems to be so real I must be  dreaming…what could possible happen next?

Lions, Tigers, and Bears? Oh my, I wish I was home back at Mel’s Salon…wake up De! wake up!!!

As I slowing reached the edge of this Giant  GM Structure looking down I can see the Sky line of the City…on my gosh! The city is floating on a  Square surrounded by a beautiful Enchanted Garden I could smell the beautiful flowers from this high altitude.

The streets below were filled with people moving in a hurry, from this view I can see nothing but sharp precision cut styled hair  all kinds of colors, different texture’s of  hair shinning like that new dime in your pocket, and the barber cuts was also representing on time  in their known  way taper or fade, tight and right the show was defiantly down below.

Looking over my shoulder I noticed the elevator sign, going down I said to myself, once inside the elevator, pushing the button down,  the doors closed and the elevator began to move.  As I stood listening to the elevator music I glanced up at the posted advertisements which read:

The elevator door is now opening…I stepped out, and immediately was swept into the sidewalks flow of people moving fast and on the go, all with good-looking polished styles this seen was definitely a Hair Design Magazine moment…

Everyone had the look of successful carefree looking Style , passing complements on each other Style was not a problem…Image that, a caring world after all.

While on the street I met a girl by the name of  Dorothy, Dorothy is wearing a Flat Iron look, bangs cut @ the brow, I asked her who styled your hair?…she said, “The Hair Fighter” hum.. very nice, as I gazed into here  trusting looking eyes.

 I told her of my dilemma that I was lost in a dreaming and that I wanted to go home.. with a sad look upon my face holding back the tears.

She said, that she could  help me get back home, there’s a Wizard with Great Power’s from The State Board of Cozmotology… he would surely get you home, but! first we must go to The Hair Wars Show, its Wednesday Hump Day, Free and everyone’s going…come on let’s have some fun , and then after the show I’ll take you to see The Wizard.

So, I had no other choice but to follow this girl with the trust worthy eye’s and Lovely Hair Style… so off we went down a very narrow yellow brick road  to The Hair Wars Show.

As we mingled our way into the crowd at the gate’s of The Hair Capital I think this is going to be great.

Everyone proceeded in an orderly manner and everyone was patent as the crowd gather at the door…we arrived at our seats @ 6:05 pm and just in time, the show is just starting.

The Hair Show was fabulous with every bit of Braid that was laid, but I’ve seen enough, it’s time to wake up and go home.

Dorothy kept her word, as we continue down that same narrow yellow brick road, until we came upon a quant little shop, there was no sign out front and the shop was paint polka dot’s I wonder???… but Dorothy assured me this is where The Wizard lived…I must leave you now remember Love, Peace and Hair Grease.

I walked in, shaken and nervous because strangely enough no one was around…I rang the guest bell and in a puff of smoke a funny little munchkin of a Wizard appeared he was dressed to kill with the colors that he wore, but it was something about this little guy had me feeling as through I could trust him…How can I be of service to you?,  your wish is my command to please you… said The Wizard.

I’m lost in a dream, homesick tired and I want to go home, can you help me get back home I said!… with a sad look of despair written  all over my face.

Your wish is my command…follow me, to the shampoo area, were your journey will begin of your journey back home. I sat a little more relax as The Wizard drape me for my service.

The Wizard shampoo me standing on a crate poor guy, couldn’t be more than 3 feet tall, but boy! he can sure shampoo, God bless him just the same.

The Wizard mention, that I have a nice texture of hair and that he want to add magic  moisture conditioner that will help to relax you for your journey home, I said thank you, and that “I got from my Daddy”, God rest his soul.

After the shampoo The wizard the informed me that he was going to give me a  Wrap, …but first, remember and recite these words “theirs nothing like a style” 3 times and then you will awake and at home to comb out your Wrap Style out.

The wizard set the timer and pull the dryer hood down and turned away.

I started reciting the Phase over and over, there’s nothing like a style.

I felted peaceful and secure as I dreamed of my way home,  and the next thing I realize I was waking up  opening my eyes thanking God …back home at Mel’s Salon, , not really knowing what time or day  it is.

I’ve been round the World and back please someone tell me…have I  missed The Hair Wars Show.

Space that final… resting place  an imaginary place or  real place…where all styles and creative writings are created equally in the wonder of one’s mind…

Ma ma Forgive me

 

Mama Forgive Me, as Our Heavenly Father…forgives us, His people…

Say Hello to my Ma ma….Norma Irena Smith, for the last 20 years I’ve styled her hair beginning with Beauty School…no charge!, to the Salon no charge!…. to the Kitchen, and now,  today were at The Nursing Home Tender Care, Taylor, Mi. and things are no different…no charge!

 

 

 

…and when I really think about all that Norma has done for me as well as the family by; keeping us together after the sudden death of her husband Robert Smith, 06. 05.67, both were in their prim of their lives, sadly for Ma ma to carry on with 5 children to raise, I owe a lot to my mother, living life on her prays, until I got to the place were I started praying for her, myself and  the World.

at this time in her life she’s so very proud of me…I know because over the years she recognize the change in me developing my lifestyle as a Professional Cosmetologist … I like for you to meet my brothers and sisters; Gary, Robert  Jr. (we have always  called him Bro)., Gayle and Linda of Atlanta, Ga.

Look at her…Isn’t she Lovely, 2 piece Light Olive Green, white turban setting her outfit off with a real cool look for the coming of Spring…give her a like, or a cool share unto the social square.

After greeting Ma ma and boy she was happy to see a visitor, I see that Kathy, Ma ma’s roommate had a visitor.

Ma ma mention to me that Robert had visited her on Saturday, and laid this pretty shade of green  out, stating to her “that somebody might come by”…well  you were Right! Bro., because that somebody was June O’Dell and myself coming by as usually after church to visit and curl her hair.

June is a very close church member Loyal Temple Baptist Church 3482 Chene, Detroit, MI., that has been close to her and knowing of my Ma ma outgoing personality I can see why June has taken a liking to my Mother.

God is a Good and Awesome God, placing people in one’s life to Love, Encourage and to Lift the Name of Jesus… God, knew long before time that Norma would need a friend such as June.

June would come see about Norma where ever she was to see if she needed anything, and if she did June would put it on her list, and she shall have it the next visit…God, also knew that Norma would need her hair styled long before I even thought about Hair Styling, then He chose me.

At the present I’m without transportation, but, that’s ok…I’m working on it all things in time, But!, for the last 4 years June as always share the ride with me Gladly and I thank her every trip.

After, talking with Ma Ma, I picked up my bag an instantly, I felt like I forgot something…true enough, it was the Pressing Comb and from the looks of Norma’s hair she might need two, but, My Kingdom for just one…all jokes aside I had a situation in front of me…I forgot the Pressing Comb!, and just as shocking as it was to me Ma Ma was a little disappointment, and who wouldn’t,  but thank God I am only human and we forget at time like these.

Ma ma took the situation with a smile, but when she told me to dial Gayle number on her phone…I should have realize this call was totally out of order…in 3 years of visiting, she never ask to make any calls, but today this call was to inform Gayle of what happen… and to everyone that enter the room it  was the cute’s Thing! but she had to tell somebody.

By time the visit was over we all laugh and as you can see she’s Smile and I know in my heart that she has Forgiven me, and all is well until next week…God’s will be done!

I was a little sad to leave Ma ma the same way with her hair undone but you must have the proper tool to do the right job: Next week I’ll check, and double-check…
